On a dewy Sunday morning, we arrived at Ireland's famous café chain, Insomnia Coffee Company in Neihu, Taiwan's flagship store in all of Asia, established just last year in 2020 for everyone to experience the taste of Western European lifestyle, one cup of coffee at a time.Store Manager Cecile welcomed Holly with some sizeable plates of delicious goodies, introducing plate after plate of local Dubliner tastes. We had beer battered English style Fish 'n Chips, the best and most authentic battered fish filet we've had since we returned from Europe. Golden, crispy goodness with a side of sunshine happiness fries dipped in a specialty tartar, Holly munched and crunched on, bite after bite.The traditional English breakfast must've been Holly's favorite too, because the baked beans went straight into her mouth, then the mushrooms, bacon, sausage, and ham filled her belly. Even Poppy couldn't resist grabbing a fry (or two)!
But wait! You can't forget about the drinks, you say! Fret not, because Holly's friend Ryan put together a custom marshmallow hot cocoa for our little guest, sprinkled with crushed chocolate for some more fun. Mommy had a seasonal special, the Salted Caramel Latte with just the right amount of salt and caramel, while Daddy sipped on a Chai Tea Latte made with organic coconut milk, straight from Europe! All of these, plus a basque cake made locally with inspiration from the original European recipe, what a wonderfully delicious way to spend a weekend morning!
The best part for Holly is the kids play area upstairs on the second floor. Mommy and Daddy had a relaxing, relatively quiet morning after putting the kids upstairs for some play time, and were able to look around the store. At the moment, Insomnia Café has a special coffee set for sale, with instant coffee packets and a 12oz mug for coffee aficionados to enjoy their coffee routine at home.
